Dzongkhag Health Sector conducted sensitization workshop on COVID-19 vaccination campaign to the Local Government leaders of the four Gewogs in Upper Kheng, the heads of Regional Offices in Zhemgang at the Regional Livestock Development Center Conference Hall on Wednesday, the 3rd of June 2021. Dasho Dzongdag graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The participants were sensitized on COVID-19 focusing on the new variants. Overview of the first dose COVID-19 vaccination campaign was presented indicating health center wise coverage in the district. The vaccination coverage for the first dose for the Zhemgang Dzongkhag was 94.73%. There were 608 people who were not vaccinated due to one or another reasons. Some did not receive COVID vaccination during the first vaccination campaign due to their personal reasons, some were on retreat during the vaccination campaign and some due to medical and alcohol conditions.

Dasho Dzongdag in his address to the gathering stressed that everyone present is responsible in fighting this invisible enemy and to take accountability not to be complacent at all times to come. Dasho shared the words of wisdom of the His Majesty showered during the Royal Audience granted to 20 Dzongdags on 24 May 2021. Dasho directed the participants to further sensitize the people under them on COVID-19 vaccination, nature of COVID 19 new variants and on the Notification issued by the Dzongkhag after the upsurge of new positive cases in the country.

Similar activity was carried out on the same day at Panbang Dungkhag for the LG leaders of the four Gewogs under the Lower Kheng and the heads of the Regional offices in Panbang Dungkhag by the team from Panbang Hospital.
