Dzongkhag Health Sector with financial support from Health Flagship Program, Ministry of Health, Thimphu organized two batches training workshop for health workers on Health Flagship Program. The workshop has to be conducted in four sessions in the two regions pertaining to the risk of Covid-19 pandemic. The training workshop for Upper Kheng was conducted at Berti Eco Lodge on 8th and 14th October 2021 respectively for the first and second batch and at Pantang Gewog Center on 8th and 11th October 2021 respectively. 

The training was conducted as a preparatory measure for the upcoming cancers screening program in the Dzongkhag. The three cancers; gastric, cervical and breast shall be taken for the screening program in line with the following national objectives:

• Reduce Gastric cancer incidence and mortality through early screening and prevention
• Reduce cervical cancer incidence and mortality through early screening and prevention
• Reduce breast cancer incidence and mortality through early screening and prevention

Categories of health workers (Doctor- 3, HA- 36, Pharmacy Technician- 9 and Lab Technician- 5) were trained during the workshop held on four occasions. Presentations on the need for sensitizing the general population for the cancers screening programs along with the practical for stool antigen testing were the main highlights during the one-day training program.
