A day long capacity building workshop for community health workers on early identification of disability and interventions for children/persons with disabilities was conducted at WBH Eco Camp, Berti, for the health workers under Zhemgang Dzongkhag on Friday, the 26th of August 2022. It was organized jointly by the Dzongkhag Health Sector and Ability Bhutan Society Office, Zhemgang. There were a total of 17 participants comprising of an HA ( Health Assistant ) each from all the health facilities located in the eight Gewogs under the Dzongkhag Administration, Medical Officer In-charge and Sr. Physiotherapy Technician of Yebilaptsa Hospital facilitated the workshop.

This is part of one of the activities of Ability Bhutan Society which has its three-year project in Zhemgang Dzongkhag from 1st January 2022 – 31st December 2024 along with other two Dzongkhags namely Samtse and Tsirang having the project titled “Empowering and Engaging People with Disabilities in Bhutan”.

The capacity building workshop organized expects the participants for early identification of disability and interventions to improve the lives of people with disabilities in their catchment areas contributing to the philosophy of Gross National Happiness of the country.
